Sheesh. This is not Bruce's best album ever, but it contains several songs that are must-haves for any serious fan of Springsteen, or of rock'n'roll in general. Bruce's albums before & after this one always had a great deal of depth, complexity and darkness, with dramatic tension between conflicting emotions, like hope, fear, resilience, and joy.
